To Get You Through Your First Week 🙂
Having braces doesn’t mean you can’t eat any of your favorite foods!

Within the first week of having your braces put on, you may find it difficult eating certain foods due to tenderness of your teeth. (Here are some easy meal ideas to get you through the first week.

You will need to keep a close eye on some of those hard and/or sticky foods, these are the only no no’s we really have…

In time, you should be able to eat most foods with ease and comfort.

Breakfast
  • Yoghurt with fresh fruit
  • Thin toast with honey or for a savoury spread try avocado
  • Scrambled eggs with mushrooms
  • Fresh fruit smoothie
  • Weetbix with milk
Snacks
  • Yoghurt
  • Fresh fruit cut into small pieces
  • Cheese sticks
  • Can of tuna
Lunch
  • Wholemeal bread sandwiches with thinly sliced ham or chicken, grated cheese, carrot and sliced tomato
  • Wraps with thinly sliced roast beef with tomato, cucumber, cheese and mustard
  • Tuna salad with lettuce, thinly sliced cucumber, cheese, beetroot and grated carrot
  • Pasta bake
  • Sushi rolls
  • Soup (pea and ham, pumpkin, vegetable) and soft bread for dipping
Drinks
  • Water
  • Green tea
  • Sugar free drinks
Dinner
  • Chicken meatballs with pasta
  • Omelette with ham, cheese and tomato
  • Thinly sliced chicken salad with lettuce, cheese, grated carrot, thinly sliced cucumber, beetroot and sprouts
  • Steamed Fish served with mashed sweet potato and peas
  • Baked sweet potato, mushrooms sprinkled with feta
  • Satay chicken (thinly chopped) served on a bed of rice
  • Spaghetti bolognaise
Dessert
  • Cheesecake with fresh fruit
  • Lemon meringue pie
  • Custard and fresh fruit
  • Chocolate mousse
  • Cheese and grapes
  • Gelato
8 Steps To A Healthy Mouth
Step 1:
Brush both the left and right sides of the mouth above the braces.
Use a circular motion.
Step 2:
Brush the front teeth (top and bottom) above the braces.
Use a circular motion.
Step 3:
Brush both left and right sides of the mouth below the braces.
Use a circular motion.
Step 4:
Brush the front teeth (top and bottom) below the braces.
Use a circular motion.
Step 5:
Brush the chewing surfaces.
Use a circular motion.
Step 6:
Brush the lingual surfaces (insides). Use a circular motion.
Step 7:
Then repeat the process for the bottom teeth.
Step 8:
*Remember to always brush your gums and palate gently.
**You can give your tongue a good brushing too – plenty of germs sit on the tongue and cause bad breath!
